Tools of the trade

Some of you have asked what are the tools of the trade to make railroad models. Well at Wheels of Time "as-built" drawings (if measuring the real thing is not possible), clear photos, car & lettering diagrams and the Officiial Railway Equipment Register are important in developing our authentically scaled models. Further, SolidWorks MCAD is indepensible especially in communicating our 3-D models faithfully to the tool & die people. Here is part of a drawing for SP class F-70-10 car which you will see in the near future. Btw, the Gunderson F-70-12 and -26 were a copy of the F-70-10. And if you have forgotten, we are taking N scaling pre-orders for the F-70-26 bulkhead flat cars which are due soon!
